Andalusian researches have patented a structural system for construction industry that eliminates the characteristic thermal bridge in slab fronts for traditional brick facades or cladded with stone or ceramic. The system constitutes a compact element that can be prefabricated and standardised by modules easy to assemble and transport. They look for industrial or research partners to sign a license or research cooperation agreement.
Description
An Andalusian Research group which works in the field of architecture and graphic engineering has patented a new system for construction industry.
The new system has been developed to eliminate the termal bridge in slab fronts for traditional brick facades or in those facades which are cladded with stone or ceramic.
The new structural system consists of an exterior support constructed with perforated or die-cut steel sheet or any of the expanded sheets that are industrialised on the market.
These sheets shape the slab front and are applied with projected polyurethane or extruded polystyrene in order to achieve their isolation. Furthermore, this isolation can be made with fibres or pressed mineral wool.
The described support remains anchored to the structure of the slab by means of rods welded to the mass concrete. These rods will have variable diameters according to the calculation as well as their corresponding anchors to guarantee the embedding. This support can be made with industrial steel lath or rebar grids In any of its forms, the system constitutes a compact element that can be prefabricated and standardised by modules easy to assemble and transport.
Its on-site installation is very easy, since it is located on the shuttering of the normal structure before concreting. Once the slab has been concreted, this element avoids against the thermal bridge it is capable of resisting the weight of the front. Hitherto, serious pathologies such as detachments or fissures in fronts take place due to the lack of adhesion of ceramic materials to current isolations. As a result, the system allows brick claddings to be adhered using suitable mortars, so as to confer exterior continuity on the facade with total guarantee.
The Research group is looking for industrial partners, reserch institutions or any other entity or person interested in establishing a licence or research cooperation agreement.
Advantages and Innovations
– This invention is applicable to the construction industry contributing innovative technological solutions for thermal and acoustic insulation.
– Likewise the system constitutes a compact element that can be manufactured by the building industry and standardised for concrete precast
– Furthermore the standardised modules are easy to assemble and transport
– The invention solved serious pathologies: such as detachments or fissures in fronts take place due to the lack of adhesion of ceramic materials to current isolations.
Type of partner and collaboration sought
Industrial partners, research institutions, organizations or any other person interested in establishing:
– A licence agreement, in order to bring the technology to the market
– A research cooperation agreement, to collaborate in further development of this technology
